Aleatico

Nomen Omen, the Latins would say. Aleatico is a very aromatic red grape variety widespread throughout Puglia, where the ancient tradition of appassimento (drying) of the grapes still exists to produce a sweet wine. It was most likely imported to the Italian peninsula by the Greeks during their colonisation, back when it was known as Livatica.
