Tenute Rubino wins the '5 Grappoli of the AIS' with Torre Testa 2006. Luigi Rubino: 'Prize at an outstanding wine of the territory'.

The Salento of quality-viticulture is growing and collecting new and important recognitions. The core wine of Tenute Rubino, Torre Testa 2006, has received the highest recognition of the AIS DUEMILAVINI guide-2009 edition: the 5 Grappoli, awarded to the outsiders of the Italian production.
Wines produced from native grapes are the ones that catch the attention of experts and most demanding winelovers always in search of premium wines, with great character that speak of the place where they are grown. This new trend involves younger drinkers as well, more and more interested in emerging territories, like the Salento, and wineries that faithfully interpret the identity of this bright mediterranean area through their elegant, rich and complex wines.
The Torre Testa, 100% Susumaniello, is the expression of how tradition and innovation can combine in this new productive philosophy. It’s on bringing back to life a native varietal, almost disappeared from the ampelographic setting in Apulia, that Tenute Rubino has focused all its attention and investments.
'We believe in the potentials of a unique and extraordinary land - says winemaker Luigi Rubino - a territory that thanks to the unique combination of soil and climate reveals itself particularly suitable for a modern concept of quality-viticulture whose aim is not only to enhance the value of indigenous varieties but also carry out meticulous agricultural practices with low yields per hectar resulting into harmonious and complex wines. This prize is a recognition for all those who go beyond the already-known to affirm a new but ancient enological identity'.
