Vinitaly 2010: Tenute Rubino, innovation and tradition

Tenute Rubino introduces several novelties at Vinitaly 2010, the most important wine trade fair in the world in terms of specialized participation and public attendance. At the 44th edition of the fair, from Thursday the 8th to Monday the 12th of April, Tenute Rubino will be offering its products to the specialized public from its stand (G3) in the pavilion 10 (Puglia), together with other quality winemakers from the region. Luigi Rubino’s firm, and Puglia’s winemaking excellence in general, will take a leading role during this year’s fair: the preview of the IRI Infoscan research carried out for Vinitaly 2010 testifies that Negroamaro (which is indigenous to Puglia) has one of the fastest-growing markets in Italy; and, most importantly, a great entrepreneurial ferment is opening up new horizons on foreign markets for Puglia and Salento’s labels, thanks to the rise of the qualitative benchmarks of regional wines, as well as to the region’s territorial beauty and tradition.
For the Brindisian winemaker Vinitaly 2010 will represent, first and foremost, the perfect opportunity to launch a new oenological project: Tenute del Sole. Luigi Rubino and his team will present this new product line, which lays its foundations on those primary indigenous varieties of red and white grapes that have contributed to the excellence of Puglia and Salento’s oenology. The new product line concretizes in four wines: two reds (Negroamaro and Primitivo) one white (Malvasia Bianca) and one Rosé (Negroamaro Rosato), all single-variety and characterized by an excellent price/quality ratio.

The wines of the Tenute del Sole line

'The wines of the Tenute del Sole line' explains Luigi Rubino 'represent Tenute Rubino’s concrete and significant answer to those markets that wish to drink a territorial wine, with a brilliant organoleptic profile as well as an affordable price, in this phase of lackluster consumption. The four Tenute del Sole wines have been conceived to give new lifeblood to the great demand for local wines that proceeds from markets with an established oenological tradition; at the same time, they will constitute an excellent passepartout for emerging markets. The latter, while still not endowed with a relevant oenological culture, are approaching wine today with clearer ideas in comparison with the past: the new consumers' - Luigi Rubino continues - 'are learning to taste wine matched with food, and will no longer accept wines that overbear on it. It’s important to go along with the positive drag that Italian wine is exerting on Italian cuisine abroad. Emerging markets are now mature enough to welcome territorial wines, and with Tenute del Sole we will surely develop an added value that will allow us to obtain a comparative advantage in these markets.'
With Tenute del Sole, Luigi Rubino’s firm demonstrates once again that it is a solid, modern reality, capable of responding successfully to market tendencies and to ever-more informed and rigorous consumers. These wines, with their pleasant freshness and endowed by their perfect equilibrium with an extraordinary drinkability, express the Mediterranean soul of Salento through their naturalness, their colour, their aromas, through the taste of the sun and the legacy of a thousand years of grapevine cultivation.
The four wines of this new oenological project: Negroamaro 2008, Primitivo 2008, Malvasia Bianca 2009, and Negroamaro Rosato 2009 will be available for tasting at Tenute Rubino’s stand.

Tenute Rubino’s wine: from the Torre Testa 2007 to the Aleatico 2007

In Verona, Luigi Rubino and his staff will offer their whole production for tasting, in addition to the Tenute del Sole product line: from the Torre Testa 2007, a pure Susumaniello awarded five grapevines by AIS’s 2009 guide, to the Aleatico 2007, a sweet wine on which Tenute Rubino has placed great expectations. Several vintages of the other Tenute Rubino labels will also be presented. From the 2009 vintage: an extraordinary Vermentino; a pure Negroamaro rosé, the Saturnino; and a blend of Chardonnay and Malvasia bianca, the Marmorelle Bianco. From the 2008 vintage: Marmorelle Rosso, a blend of Negroamaro and Malvasia nera, and the Gianicola, a pure Malvasia Bianca. From the 2007 vintage: the Jaddico (a blend of Negroamaro, Montepulciano and Malvasia nera); the Visellio and the Punta Aquila (both pure Primitivo); and the Negroamaro.
The 2009 vintage of Tenute Rubino’s olive oil will also be available for tasting: a balanced blend of Nardò, Coratina and Leccina olives, in equal parts.
