Made in Apulia wine soars in Canada with Tenute Rubino. The firm's best wines embark on an extraordinary tour of Canada's main cities.
Switzerland has passed the baton of high-quality Apulian wine to North America. The 'Wine of Apuliai' tour will take Tenute Rubino’s wines across the ocean to Canada’s main cities, where Apulian producers will take the stage in a series of tastings and events. After Switzerland, it is thus Canada’s turn to be imbued by the lively Mediterranean spirit of this export-oriented tour, whose foremost objective is the valorisation of Made in Puglia wine. The 'I Vini del Salento alla scoperta del Canada' (Salento’s wines discover Canada) initiative is a joint venture between the public sector and several private firms, like Tenute Rubino, which are strongly representative of Apulia’s entire productive territory. Its objective is to effectively promote high-quality Apulian wine in Canada’s appealing market, and thus to produce positive spill-over effects on Apulia itself.
During the long Canadian leg of the tour, which will start on Monday the 25th of October and will end on Wednesday the 3rd of November, Tenute Rubino’s wines will visit Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto and Montreal. In particular, the following wines will be sampled and discussed: Giancòla (White Malvasia), Negroamaro Rosso Tenute del Sole, Marmorelle Rosso (Negroamaro and Black Malvasia), Punta Aquila (Primitivo), Torre Testa (Susumaniello), Vermentino and Negroamaro del Salento. Furthermore, on November the 2nd Montreal’s Ristorante Graziella will host an event organized by Tenute Rubino: a tasting of a significant selection of the firm’s wines, paired with Italian culinary specialties. Luigi Rubino and Project Manager Romina Leopardi will lead this event, whose convivial atmosphere will facilitate interaction among the participants and with the producer. The wine selection will be composed by Giancòla, Negroamaro Tenute del Sole, Marmorelle rosso, Punta Aquila and the firm’s top wine: Torre Testa. During the first months of 2010 Italian wine exports to Canada have registered significant growth, surpassing French exports in terms of volume; Italy is now the top exporter of wine to Canada. Canadian consumers have especially favoured wines with a specific territorial connotation and a rich socio-cultural heritage, like those obtained from autochthon varieties: examples are Primitivo, Negroamaro, white Malvasia and Susumaniello.
