Terroir

Located on the Salentine plateau at an altitude of 80-100 meters above sea level, 13 kilometers from the Adriatic coastline, the vineyards of the Uggìo-Punta Aquila estate cover the municipalities of Brindisi, Mesagne and Cellino San Marco. The vines grow on dark clay soils of calcareous origin with a well-balanced mix of clay and sand.

Diurnal temperature variations—with temperatures reaching higher than 15°C, create unique microclimates which make for intensely aromatic wines with a great aging potential.

The spurred cordon or Guyot-trained vines are planted at a density of 5000 per hectare. The varieties grown here are Primitivo, Negroamaro and Vermentino.

The hot, arid climate, typical of the Mediterranean basin, brings an average rainfall of 500/700 millimeters per year, mainly during autumn and winter.

The entire estate abides by most of the community protocols for environmental sustainability. Here in Uggìo-Punta Aquila , the fight against the common pest known as the European grapevine moth, is carried out using sustainable methods such as mating disruption and the introduction of biological pesticides like Bacillus Thuringensis.
