Tenute Rubino and the Susumaniello grape take the spotlight on Tg2 Eat Parade.

On January 2nd, Tg2 Eat Parade, the food and wine segment of RaiNews, aired an extensive feature on Tenute Rubino, with a special focus on Susumaniello — the native grape variety that symbolizes Salento and lies at the heart of our production at the Jaddico estate.

The video traces the journey from vineyard to cellar, capturing the deep connection between wine and the land. In the feature, Luigi Rubino and our winemaker, Luca Petrelli, share the company’s vision, vineyard choices, and the cultural significance of a project aimed at enhancing a historic grape variety of southern Italy.

The Susumaniello project by Tenute Rubino is much more than simple cultivation: it’s a mission to recover and promote a native grape that once risked extinction, a true emblem of Salento’s winemaking tradition. Grown on our Jaddico estate – along the Adriatic coast north of Brindisi – Susumaniello today stands as a symbol of identity and territory, recognized even on the international stage.

The philosophy behind the project, which over time has also embraced other native grape varieties, brings together tradition, sustainability, and quality. Cultivation and winemaking practices are designed to highlight the organoleptic characteristics of this historic grape, allowing new generations to appreciate distinctive native wines with a unique character.

The feature shed light not only on Tenute Rubino but also on the history and evolution of a land and a grape that express the bond between people, soil, and wine culture — reaffirming Susumaniello as one of the most authentic expressions of Apulian viticulture.
