Aleatico

In this instance Nomen omen. Aleatico is a very aromatic red grape variety and widespread in Puglia, where the ancient tradition of appassimento of the grapes exists to produce a sweet wine. It was most likely imported to the Italian peninsula by the Greeks during their colonisation. However, the first written records date back to the 14th century when it was known as Livatica.
