The “Vitae 20252 guide awards “Quattro Viti” to Jaddico DOC Brindisi Riserva
The 2019 vintage of Jaddico, one of the flagship wines of Tenute Rubino, has received the prestigious 4 VITI in the Vitae guide by the Italian Sommelier Association (AIS), reaffirming the unique character of this vintage and the wine’s deep connection to its place of origin. According to the guide, the 4 VITI rating denotes “wines of excellent stylistic and organoleptic profile,” providing an important reference for industry professionals and consumers alike.
Jaddico is a DOC Brindisi Riserva, symbolizing the winemaking tradition of the Brindisi area. Our family has been deeply committed to preserving the traditional blend of Negroamaro and Susumaniello grapes, produced only in the finest vintages in limited quantities. The vineyards are located on the estate of the same name, a remarkable area with unique soil and climate conditions: situated just meters from the Adriatic Sea, the vines root themselves in sandy and clay soils, constantly caressed by the sea breeze.
The wine ages for 14 months in steel and 10 months in first-pass French oak barrels. The 2019 vintage stands out for its “bright, deep carmine color,” foreshadowing its aromatic complexity. As described in the Vitae guide, “It surprises with freshness and dynamic aromas: cherry jam, blackcurrant, nutmeg, and myrtle. A dense, velvety tannin, combined with a fresh-salty stream, brings energy to the palate, enhancing the solid structure and offering a harmonious and satisfying sip.”
The 2019 vintage: an exceptional combination of climate conditions
The 2019 season was marked by significant variability, especially in the spring months, with abundant rainfall and temperatures ranging from 13°C to 23°C. Harvest saw a reduction in production of about 15% compared to 2018, which had been an especially abundant year. However, favorable summer conditions allowed the grapes to reach optimal ripeness, achieving some of the highest quality levels in recent years. Additionally, the proximity to the sea provided *Tenuta di Jaddico* with a mild, steady climate, free from extreme peaks, allowing the grapes to develop an intense and well-defined aromatic profile.
