Brindisi, September 26, 2020 – Once again a prestigious wine guide rewards Tenute Rubino’s Susumaniello Project. For the fourth consecutive year, Gambero Rosso has awarded its coveted Three glasses for Oltremè 2018, including it in the top 16 fine wines of Puglia chosen by the Vini d’Italia 2020 wine guide.

The Susumaniello Project began almost twenty years ago with the aim of reviving, through a modern and elegant style, a traditional native grape of the Brindisi area, at a time when Puglia’s wines had become almost synonymous with far too powerful and full-bodied reds.

“We are so proud– says founder Luigi Rubino – to see that once again our Susumaniello-based wine has climbed to the top of a prestigious wine guide and the recognitions of the past years are followed by the growing appreciation of wine lovers for this long-neglected native variety. Since the launch of our project, together with our oenologist Luca Petrelli, we have highlighted its versatility (which allowed us to create great reds, surprising sparkling wines and a seductive rosé) meeting the demand of a consumer in search for a more contemporary drink, one that combines identity, innovation and, of course, the highest oenological quality”.

Oltremè is a Susumaniello-based red: fresh and surprising, with its distinctive immediacy, this wine charms the palate with its fruity notes and a consistently pleasant, elegant character thanks to the steel-only vinification that brings out all the vivacity of this intriguing Apulian native grape.
